We recently took a trip to Charlotte, North Carolina. Our son who’s become a HUGE NASCAR fan wanted to see the town that is the homeland of all things racing. In addition to family in the area, we have some dear friend’s of our’s that moved to Charlotte. It’s always so great meeting up with Rob and Kerry and their boy’s, Aiven and Carden. Just like old time’s, we updated their family portraits. I was giddy for this session. This barn was not only awesome inside and out, but it has it’s own bit of fame. If you are familiar with the movie Days Of Thunder, this is the barn that the race car is built in. Our son was so excited when we pulled up to this barn. It was a surprise for him and he knew instantly what it was.
Reading up on some of the History of the barn, it was owned by Mr. Rick Hendrick, owner of Hendrick Motorsports. An any of you that know us, knows that we are a team Hendrick family-our son’s favorite driver is Kasey Kahne. The barn was near his lake house. The 1990 film starred Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman. Tom Cruise was said to have stayed at his lake house during production of the film.
Aiven and Carden enjoyed running around the grounds of the barn. Ironically enough, you would think this was far out in the country, but sadly it is surrounded my modern day shops and restaurants. It’s smack dab in the middle of it all. But it stands out so bold and grand.
I easily could have shot here for a few hours more, but we were running on limited daylight and hungry bellies….so I tried to get in as much of my vision as I could in the time we had. It was a great way to end our family vacation. A great location, and a night with friends.
Aiven is such a sweet heart of a boy. He’s got this infectious laugh that is so adorable. It’s been fun getting our boy’s together over the year’s.
Carden was just a newborn the last I saw him. They were in the midst of making their move to North Carolina when I did his newborn session, so he’s changed a lot since that last time.
How sweet……I adore these.
I don’t think there was an ounce of fright in Carden with his Daddy throwing him in the air. He loved it.
It’s hard to say goodbye to friends and know it’ll be awhile before you see each other, but so glad for all those times we do get to share together. Can’t wait to see you all next time!
Course I had to take some of our guy. He had an awesome vacation filled with all his favorite things!
